Today I was a part of the wonderful Retreat of our London Deanery Council Executive. We met for the better part of a day at Brescia Unversity College. It allowed time fir us to reflect on the year ahead of us and to lay out a schedule going forward. I am excited about the executive that we have and was pleased with the leadership and gifts that this group brings.
At the end of the day I visited, with a couple of colleagues, the Labyrinth at BUC. I took the time to walk it and give thanks for the day that we had. As I paced around this prayer of Teresa of Avila came to mind.
Let nothing disturb you,
let nothing frighten you,
everything passes,
but God stays.
Whoever has God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices
God alone suffices. God remains. The beauty of strolling intentionally through the labyrinth comes in having time to enter further into God’s care, and journey out with the assurance of God’s love and God’s presence.
Take time each day to acknowledge the presence of God.
Take time each day to praise the God who alone suffices.
I have spent some great meditation time at that Labyrinth. It is always peaceful and serene there.
