Football and Soup

Yesterday I was fortunate to attend a Grey Cup Party at the beaches that was hosted by Tony Doucette of the CBC. Ray and Marion Hinton also attended along with Mark and Sally Charlton. Ray won the tickets from the CBC and Tony invited me along. Catherinanne and I were happy to have Kevin Miller go along as well as Former CFL player and parishioner Johnnie Dengel.

It was a lot of fun to be at a party to see the Canadian game so celebrated. I would love someday to get to a Grey Cup Game. It would be awesome for sure. Next year Toronto hosts so who knows what might happen? Unfortunately my team lost but I had a great time with the good company nonetheless and I am so glad that we were able to go. Thanks CBC and Thank you Tony.

Yesterday was also a great day at church. We had over 160 at the 10:30 again and nothing special happening. The best part of all was the great crowd we had stay on for soup luncheon. We always have a great time at soup. Many thanks to Nancy Shulgan and Nickki Adams for your help in all of that. In a one week turnaround we had more soup than we could handle. Thanks so much to all of you who made soup and gave us all a great lunch. It is another great example of how we live community. Mitsugi Saotome Aikido Master offers this “If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to, no one with which to share the beauty of the stars, to laugh with, to touch, what would be your purpose in life? It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth”. I think there is great wisdom in this. At the church, wether at steak BBQs , Mass, Soup luncheons, Wednesdays at Arby’s, Making meat pies, etc, etc…we are discovering the joy of each other and the joy of challenge and in all of it we grow. It is why I love this parish so very much!
