Writing and Radio

Writing can be a true spiritual discipline. Writing can help us to concentrate, to get in touch with the deeper stirrings of our hearts, to clarify our minds, to process confusing emotions, to reflect on our experiences, to give artistic expression to what we are living, and to store significant events in our memories. Writing can also be good for others who might read what we write.

Quite often a difficult, painful, or frustrating day can be "redeemed" by writing about it. By writing we can claim what we have lived and thus integrate it more fully into our journeys. Then writing can become lifesaving for us and sometimes for others too.

I like this meditation from Henri Nouwen. It really sums up well my feelings about writing these past few weeks. I realize that this blog can be, at times, silly. But really it is a great way on a daily basis to just clarify my mind sometimes. I only hope that what I write can have the added effect of helping others too, if by no others means than just entertainment that I am happy to comply.

I had yet another surprise party the other evening. This time it was in Windsor at Johnny Shotz a local place that we often frequent. I am grateful again to Catherinanne who orchestrated the whole affair and made a great evening for me. Thank you to all of you who came out that night. It was great.

Today I started my radio gig. I will be quiz master on a weekly radio quiz show on CBC 1550 AM here in Windsor. If you are not here in Windsor and you want to tune in you can get it online if you go to http://www.cbc.ca/windsor/audio/index.html

And click on the 1550 Radio One Windsor Icon.  The show goes to air at 6:40 AM on Monday morning this week and should be a lot of fun. I just finished taping the first spot and it was a lot of fun. There were great questions with good dialogue between myself and Tony Doucette of the Early Shift and Susan Pedler of the CBC Television News. I am referred to as the “High Priest of Radio Trivia.” Tune in and be entertained and see how many of the 10 questions you can answer correctly.
